How To Purchase A Premium-Rate Number Online

Obtaining a premium-rate number online is a fairly simple and straight-forward process. You do your research (I recommend reading as much of my posts as you can, before you consider obtaining your premium-rate number - all my posts are located in the menu section which is situated on the lower right hand of this page). You figure out what website you want to buy the premium-rate number from and acquire (upon purchase) your premium-rate number thereafter. Some sites offer special deal packages at good prices, while other sites are simply looking to charge the earth for the same service.

If you are based in the UK my advice to you would be:

"pay no more than £30 pounds for a premium-rate number, if you're based in the Europe, no more than 35 Euros, and if you're based in the US, no more than $48

There are four types of service that a credible premium-rate vendor can offer you:

1. A Pre-Recorded Service which contains content provided by your premium rate vendor

2. A Pre-Recorded Service which contains content that you yourself record

3. A Live Service provided by your vendor

4. A Live Service run by you.


1. A Pre-Recorded Service Which Contains Content Provided By Your Vendor

An example of this type of service can be a pre-recorded horoscope-line, a tarot-line, a joke-line or whatever else they have on offer.

2. A Pre-Recorded Service Which Contains Content That You Yourself Have Recorded

You record your own message, that message is stored on your vendor's telecom-database (answering machine)

3. A Live Service Provided By Your Vendor

An example of this type of service can be a live chat-line which is run by your vendor

4. A Live Service Run By You

If you select this service, your premium-rate number merchant will issue you with a premium-rate number and the calls that you receive can be re-directed to your personal number of your choice, i.e. your home number, your work phone, and in some cases a mobile phone (this type of service may incur extra costs). With this service you can provide people a personal live, 121 service.

For the record, pre-recorded and live services provided by your vendor are also commonly known as ready made premium-rate number packages.

Now, it's very important to establish exactly what service you're after. It's also important to bear in mind that not all online premium-rate number merchants offer all of the services above. So make sure you find out what service the online merchants offer. If it's not clear, be sure to email them for clarification.

Once you've bought your line, you should be given an online account. You will use this account to monitor your earnings.

Please note: if the site you intend to purchase a premium-rate number from does not offer this type of account, steer well away and do not part with your money. There are many scam-artists online, so make sure you find a reputable merchant before handing over your well-earned cash.
